 How to see which Browser Version you are using:

  1. Open the Browser (either Netscape or Internet Explorer)
  2. Click on Help in the menu bar
  3. Click on About Internet Explorer or About Netscape
  4. A window should pop up, stating the version number (along with other information.)

 Software to Avoid:

To check your browser for spyware, parasites, and other deceptive software and for more detailed information, visit the Doxdesk page on parasites: http://www.doxdesk.com/parasite
  There are a few specific software that are known to conflict with WebCT and you should stay away from, if you wish to avoid problems with WebCT. If you have these programs on your machine you should probably remove or temporarily disable them before trying to use WebCT. Popup blockers can block quizzes, discussions and email, while some search engines and download managers can cause your logins to WebCT to fail. We recommend that you don't use the following:

 Browser Settings:

    In order to login and access materials on WebCT, you must have certain browser settings: 

    Configuration Instructions for Internet Explorer 6.0

    ENABLE JAVA & JAVASCRIPT
    Netscape Browser
    1. Select Edit, Preferences
    2. Select Advanced (single click on the word Advanced)
    3. Make sure the Enable Java and Enable JavaScript boxes are checked
    4. Click OK
     
    ACCEPT COOKIES

    Netscape Browser

    1. Select Edit, Preferences
    2. Select Advanced (single click on the word Advanced)
    3. Make sure the Accept all Cookies box is checked
    4. Click OK
    SET CACHE TO ALWAYS RELOAD PAGE
     Netscape Browser
    1. Select Edit, Preferences
    2. Click the + sign next to Advanced to see more options
    3. Select Cache
    4. Select the Every Time radio button at the bottom
    5. Click OK
     
     

     

     Plug-ins:

    You do not need any plug-ins to access a UA WebCT course, but some instructors in some courses may have material that requires plug-ins (like Flash) for you to access them. You can test to see if you have needed plug-ins and download the plug-ins (as needed) at this WebCT site:
